hello,

I have the same problem, but not only does it not let me log in normal mode but safe mode as well. I would re-install XP, but I don't have the CD with me, can I use any windows XP cd? Is there a way for me to get to my hard drive files, that way i can save those and just reformat if it comes to it?

Hello,

The Windows Repair doesn't work...I can login the first time I boot my computer up after the installation, but once I restart it, it basically goes back to the same problem...Is there anything besides reformatting that I could try at this time?

By the way, while I was trying to replace wsaupdater.exe with userinit.exe (which by the way did not work), I found a couple .manifest files, one called logon_user.manifest or login_user... something like that...I'm sure that didn't come with the original XP...should i have been worried about it at all?

Will it boot into safe mode?

 

yes, now i can get to safe mode, but i'm not sure how long it'll lsat, so i'm not sure if I should restart my computer at all.

 

I still have the same problem as before. I can't login to windows, currently i'm only able to enter in safe mode...I need help, I do not want to lose all my files.

 

help?
