cannot open dvd writer tray

Tried paper clip to open,then tried a small blade while pushing eject did not move. I noticed the last time it worked the disc came out spinning, whats up with that. It checked out OK in divice manager. Any help would be great THANKS ac2507

Sorry mate, looks like its dead beyond repair.

 

If the paperclip opening method did not work then the internal release catch of the drive must be broken. The only way into it is probably to unscrew the top and get the disk out that way.

Agree with Burrell, looks like it's spun it's last disc.
Probably fixable if you are that way inclined but for the sake of $25-30 it's worth just buying new to save you the risk of damaging discs.

 

I had a drive do the same thing. I opened it up, retrieved my disc, tossed it in the trash and found a replacement on Ebay for about $12.

I cheaped out on buying a new dvd drive, because it was a spare computer and I already had more $$ into it than the computer was worth.
