cannot open .exe's

    whenever i open a .exe i get this message.

    windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. you may not have appropriate permission to access the item.

    please help me fix this.

    Presumabley its not a problem with ALL exe files, as you wouldnt be able to click on them as "explorer.exe" wouldnt be running.

    Do you have a restricted account on this machine, and if not, did you make any changes before this started happening. Also what OS is this. if its XP (which it sounds like it might be) try creating another user and logging in as them and see if it still happens. If it still happens then, try safe mode.

    Also be sure youre up to date with AV, firewall, and windows updates, of course :)

    As goldy said sounds like you will need to be logged in as ADMIN to execute the exe's.
