Cannot open Music or Video links anymore :(

howdy!

for some reason, I can no longer open video links or music links on the web! I have the problem in any browser I use. IE6 and Mozilla. When I try to open a music or video link, I get a windows error sound.. I can describe it as a beep or a chime sound. I have XP service pack 1, and all the updates. I tried resetting all web settings and deleted all cookies and files. any ideas?

 

Just an update:

as it turns out I cant play ANY MP3 files from my harddrive.. The computer just beeps at me. So I installed WinAmp, and that works fine. So, I believe somehow my Windows Media Player is corrupted. Any way to reinstall WMP?

 

uninstall then reinstall? i know u are probably used to WMP but i for one have been using Winamp and i think it's a fanstastic program, especially for mp3's... there's also a nifty "enqueque" plug in for winamp that lets u manually cue up songs (in any order) from your playlist...

 

I downloaded WMP 9.0 plus the codecs and it did not work right. I downloaded the new update for it and it corrected itself. Are your WMP updates up to date??
