   I sent an email with an excel attachment and within the excel file there is a hyperlink to a pdf document. When the recipient tried to open it they get an error "Cannot open specified file"-Is there a reason for this?

   Just to say-Both the excel file and the pdf docs were stored on my c-drive...

   Yes you will need to attach the pdf as well, the hyperlink to the pdf will have your HD and folder location and not the recipients. They may/will have to also open the pdf separatly as the excel hyperlink again will have your target file location.
