cannot recieve Email...

Hello to all major geeks out there, and thanks in advance for any help you may be able to send.
Am amature at using complex solutions.
I am using XP, IE ver 7.0.5730.11. Have no problem accessing the net, or sending email but when i try to recieve, i get this message:
(The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'incoming.verizon.net', Server: '127.0.0.1', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E).
I looked for error codes on WWW but can't make sense of findings. This email worked in october but cousin installed Mcaffee suite which made computer unusable for anything. I removed all mcaffee programs and can do all but recieve Email.

Check your firewall settings especially if you are using ZoneAlarm.

 

yes, iremoved firewalls and virus protection but still get same error ms. installed AVGfree last night, thanks for that too.
still getting same message on receivig email:

also Outlook express symbol is grayed out on opening shortcut screen.

OE shouldn't be using 127.0.0.1 as your server. This is a site that points to your computer.


1. Click Accounts on the Tools menu.


2. Click the Mail tab and double-click the problem account.


3. Click the Server tab and enter the correct name of the server. You might need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for this information.
