What IP address are you getting? Start --> Run --> Type "cmd" and press OK. Type "ipconfig".

What is the IP address that your router is setup on? This is the same IP address you type in when you connect to the configuration of it.

Can you ping your router? (Ping x.x.x.x) Your router is the IP address beside the gateway when you do ipconfig.

Do you have encryption on your router? This is likely the case. Doublecheck to see that you've configured your wireless profile correctly. Your network/encryption key and type will be in the configuration of your router.

yes i can ping the router and there is activity but as soon as the ping ends the activity ends. the encryption is turned off, it is still not working so i am not shure what is going on

Do other wireless PCs on the network experience the same issue?

If other PCs are experiencing the same issue, try updating the firmware on your router and setup the wireless network again.
If other PCs aren't experiencing the same issues, update the drivers for your wireless card.

Allright i have updated both and in the instructions of my router it says to restart the DSL moden then, the wireless router, then the computer. I did this and the internet worked great, but after about 15 minutes it stoped recieving packets again. So i followed the reset process again, and it worked for another 15 minutes. Do you know what could be changing the settings, if anything is?? thank you so much for your help.

I don't believe your settings are being changed.

What you need to do is narrow down the issue. Is it only one computer? Is it only the wireless portion? Does this wireless PC experience the same issues when it's on a different wireless network. Without determining this, it's a waste of time to try and troubleshoot something that may not even be the issue.

Connect your PC via ethernet when the wireless stops responding to see if you get network activity.
Try a different wireless PC to see if it experiences the same issue.

It's either the wireless card, or the router. Have you reinstalled the wireless card? Have you checked to see if the firmware on the router is up to date?
