My daughter downloaded several blinkyou.com glitter icons onto the desktop. They are a GIF file. I cannot remove these. I've searched every file on my system and deleted anything I could find that looked like it was related and they will not disappear. I went into myspace and deleted any codes for downloads that was suggested by myspace and blinkyou. Can anyone tell me how to remove these please? I've defraged, ran virus checks, clearedl all temp files and I've searched and deleted the associated image in the documents file but they will not go away.

Is it actual files? If so right click and delete?

    Can you attach a screenshot?

Do plese post a screenshot so we can see the icon types.

But also try the below options to delete this errant files,

    1. Pocket Killbox
    2. MoveOnBoot this one, once you dragNdrop the file or browse for its location, deletes the file on reboot, so any applications that have locked the file are not running so cannot lock it before deletion.. my fav!

They are a picture that sit on the desktop like an icon and blink. I tried right clicking and deleting but when you right click it takes you to properties of the desk top like they aren't there. I've scanned my hard drive and cannot find any trace of them.

I've attached a bmp image of the desktop the 3 pictures on the right side are the blinkyou pictures.

In the meantime I will try some of the suggested programs.

    Try this.

    Windows XP
    Click Start.
    Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    Select the View Tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    Click Yes to confirm.
    Click OK.

    Now re-scan the drive.

Or go to C drive > Windows > icons folder and see if there is anything in there.

To be sure, try this also.

Right click on your Desktop and select Properties. Then click the Desktop tab and then the Customize Desktop button. Now in the next window that comes up click the Web tab. Make sure at the bottom that Lock desktop items is unchecked. Then in the Web pages: box delete all items but My Current Home Page and make sure it is unchecked too. Then click OK. Apply. OK.
