cannot renew IP address

Okay so I can't connect to the internet on my computer with my roommate's telus router. I used to be able to and for seemingly no reason it will no longer work. Her internet works fine. I can, however, connect to an open dlink network in my available networks list. I am using a belkin G wireless adapter and running xp office.
Someone suggested I try doing the run CMD ipconfig/release thing and it said it had already been released. Then I tried /renew and it said "an error occurred while renewing interface wireless network connection 3: unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out."

Please help!

 

Have you tried restarting the router?

If so try disabling the firewall on the router and see if you can connect that way...if you can then put the firewall back on and enter the new encryption keys

Sorry, I am bad at technology but when you say disable the firewall you mean on my computer, right?

And I don't know where I would find a new encryption key...

Also, I was on the phone with Telus for an hour and they tried changing the channel, changing the name of my network, and changing the password, etc.

You have access to the other computer that is working and you know how to use the command prompt so despite your protests of not being very good with technology, I get to give you the short version, woo hoo!

On the computer that works, please go to the command prompt and type the command ipconfig (and press enter, of course). Copy and paste the result here. On the computer that does not connect, please try the same and type in the result here - likely 0.0.0.0 with some 0.0.0.0 to go with it or it could be stuck on a strange number.

Let's start with that. There are a few other things that come to mind but this might be quick and easy to fix.
