Cannot Save Websites to IE7 Favourites

Hi,

I have recently re-installed Vista on a new hard disk in my desktop and I copied my favourites over across the home network from my laptop also running Vista and IE7.

Now I cannot save a website directly to a folder within my favourites, I get the message unspecified error every time I try. I have tried various folders and they are all the same. I can save a web site to the root favourites folder then drag and drop although I get numerous messages to click through from the UAC which never used to happen when dragging and dropping folders in the favourites.

Anyone know what is wrong and how to fix this?

You should only have the one Favorites folder within your user account. Sounds as if you might have more than one now. You can identify the 'real' one by looking at the folder's properties - the real one has a Location tab, missing from the others.

Try deleting any folders other than the real one, and then copy across from your laptop the contents only of the laptop's Favs folde, not the folder itself.

All should then be well.

I have checked and I only have the one favourites folder. It is a blue folder located under my user name and there is a locations tab. All of my subfolders are in it.

I believe I did just copy the contents of the favourites across from my laptop so it might have something to do with the permissions on the sub folders and maybe explains why I can save web site to the root folder but not to the sub folders.

Any other ideas?
