I am in the process of migrating our 6 year-old pc to a new one running Windows 7 (64 bit) Home Premium. Initially I successfully installed iTunes 10.1.1 for Windows (64-bit) and had it working for several days.

Today I moved or erased something in my migration process and frogged up iTunes. Now I can't use it, repair it, reinstall it or uninstall it. Arrrrgh!:cry

I have tried the Windows remove software utility multiple times without success.

I have also tried these instructions from the Apple website, but the system will not allow me to delete the Temp folder in question:

    Windows Vista and Windows 7:

    1. Choose Start > Computer
    2. In Computer, open the "C:" drive.
    3. Open the Users folder.
    4. Double-click the folder titled with your username.
    5. If you see an AppData folder, skip to step 10. If you don't see an AppData folder, proceed to the next step.
    6. Choose Organize > Folder and Search Options.
    7. Click the View tab.
    8. Select the option to "Show hidden files and folders." (In Windows 7 this option will be called "Show hidden files, folders, and drives").
    9. Click OK.
    10. Double-click the AppData folder to open it. If Windows needs your permission to continue click Continue.
    11. Double-click the Local folder to open it.
    12. Right-click on the Temp folder and choose Delete.
    13. In the confirmation dialog that appears click Yes.
    14. If you are unable to delete the Temp folder, close all programs, especially those in the Notification area ("System Tray") of the Windows Task bar and repeat step 12.
    15. Restart your computer.

    Thanks in advance, Joe G.

It looks like I may have fixed this issue

I tried several ways of removing iTunes and none worked. I finally downloaded a trial copy of Revo Uninstaller Pro (http://www.revouninstaller.com/) and ran its Uninstall utility against iTunes. I did not have to use the Force Uninstall command.

As best as I can determine Revo Uninstaller Pro removed most if not all traces of iTunes. I was then able to successfully reinstall iTunes and pay music.

Note that Revo Uninstaller Pro did not erase my music. However, I did have to rebuild my playlists. It was a little tedious, but better than no iTunes or music at all.
