Cannot View Any Web Pages (IE6)

Hello,

I started having a problem with both IE6 and online PC games today after running Norton Anti-Virus. I get the "Page Cannot be Opened" message for all pages. Games will not run (Half-Life 2, Guild Wars). I have no idea what is wrong, but called my ISP twice and can at least say that my connection is running properly. I've successfully pinged some websites, and ran the sfc /scannow command to restore dll files.

Also FWIW, there weren't any viruses found, and SP2 is installed. I'm pretty sure I am up to date with all the latest updates. I've got two PC's connected via a router. The one I'm using to post this is working fine. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Install Zone Alarm. That should help. Also Zone Alarm should alert you about any Proggies trying to access the Internet, Incase you come across something like winlogon32.exe or maybe xpjava.exe, deny them access as they are both virus files which are NOT detected by Norton Antivirus.

I used the dns names. Yahoo was one of the sites that I tested and it worked properly. Should I be trying to use the IP address instead?

I'll give Zone Alarm a try today and post back. Thanks for the suggestion

 

It looks like there are a couple of different Zone Alarm products...can you provide a link to the one you recommend that I would be able to save to disk? Thank you
