Cannot view Video on TV from Laptop

    I know, its probably a simple issue, just not sure where to start.

    I cannot view movie files on television when connecting laptop (with 15 pin connector) to television.
    Photos appear, just not files played on VLC media player or Windows media player. Am I missing a codec or something?

    Windows XP SP-3
    Windows Media Player 11.0.5721.5230

    does it only happen on the tv, or can you view the video files at all? do you have the updated and correct video drivers installed?

    I can view the video files on the laptop, but while connected to tv cannot see video files play on tv.

    As far as I know. Auto update and manual done.
