Canon EOS 400d

I have a problem here with a Canon digital camera EOS 400d (Also known as the digital rebel). The camera software supplied (EOS Digital solution DisK v13.1) will not communicate with the camera. (Windows XP home+SP2). The device manager shows a black/yellow ? mark and says no driver loaded. I understand a separate driver should not be necessary for windows XP. I'm waiting to hear from Canon but in the meantime can anybody help? Thanks

go to Drivers/Software and click the top "bubble" to get the XP drivers
