canon iP3500 printer keep randomly crashing PC

Hi. We have just bought a new Canon iP3500 printer at work but since we have had it the PC its attatched to (the boss's ( who isnt computer literate in any way)) crashes randomly many times a day. I have tried updating the drivers to no avail. The system is only a year old and it is running win XPSP2.
There is no particular thing that she does when it crashes and it can happen every 3-4 minutes or an hour apart I uninstalled the printer and we have had two crash free days!! This morning the boss decided she needed to print something and asked me to install the printer again.It had just finished installing the drivers when the system rebooted again! Has crashed 5 times this morning (in two hours) since I reinstalled it. Any ideas???
