    I have a Canon Scanner/Printer MG570.

I think all my Ink has run out except the Black Text one. The Printer won't let me Print though on just Black.

I have been told you can't just print on Black as you need some Colour Cartridges. Is this correct?

    Thanks

    :)

I have tried this but it comes up about the Magenta Cartridge being empty and i can't go any further.

I have three Canon printers (in two locations), one of them being a Pixma. All have separate colour cartridges and one Black cartridge.
If you choose and click on the Grayscale option in properties BEFORE you click the ok button to print the chosen document, then it does work even if every colour cartridge is low or empty.
I can only think you are not setting it correctly.
The link I provided to your specific model makes clear it will work in black (grayscale) only.

    MaxTurner,
    From your link...
I'm guesstimating Rookminka2017's PIXMA MG5750 does not print when one colour cartridge is empty.

I previously had a different Pixma model that used one cartridge black, and one cartridge for all colours. Even that worked in Grayscale only when the colour cartridge was empty. My current three Canons all work in grayscale whether the colour cartridges are empty or not.
If that model has one exclusively black cartridge then grayscale should work. I don't see Canon producing a model in that range that works differently. But the OP has never said whether it had multiple cartridges or not and I'm not reading through the whole manual to find out.

The directions I found said that you need to select plain paper

Since the article is 2 years old, I'm not sure if it applies to your model.

Manufacturers put chips in newer printers and some refuse to print if something is empty or if 3rd party ink is used.

I get Support Code:1689 Printer detected Ink out condition of the following Ink:
    Magenta <ClI-571> <M> <SETUP>
Replace the Ink Tank if you want to continue using this Tank click OK.

Follow the instructions already given > select PLAIN PAPER > uncheck any settings for border or graphics/image printing > GRAYSCALE.
Otherwise if that doesn't work you will have to BUY a new Magenta cartridge.

It can but that is the only way you'll get it to print without replacing the empty color cartridges. Personally, I would replace them.
