I got a "Canon Lide 200" scanner for 100 bucks at Stapples. It says 4800x 4800 on the box...with a Z-lid thing...there was also an HP scanner for the 30 bucks more. Now I'm wondering if I should return the Cannon for the HP before I open it.

    Canon:

For some reason I thought Cannon would be better quality, the box touted it could scan 'color 8x11 in 14 sec.' which sounded really fast so I picked the Cannon. Then I looked up these profiles and noticed the HP sais it can scan three 4x6 photo's at once!
And it says "Get realistic scans of 3-D items, capturing more detail and depth" The sales guy mentioned something about flatbed only getting whats directly on the glass so I guess this is better then that...?

Anyway, wondering if HP's are slower than Canon? Like is that Cannon '14sec' really fast or just a creative bullet point? I have tons of old photos to scan so that 3 pic at once with the HP sounds so convenient but it wouldn't be if it's slower.

I think I also had a shitty HP printer at one point which made me distrust the brand.

Also...do you have to use the software provided? Can you use third party software on my Canon to scan multiple photos at once?

    Thanks for any feedback.

    Rob from Canada.
