cant access a folder

    ive got shit loads of films in a folder on a separate hard drive i accidentally moved the whoe folder into a documents folder when i click on the docs folder to get into it it says access denied and when u hover the mouse arrow over folder it says empty but my drive is still showing its full of the films heeeeellllppppppppppp!!!!! please

    hi thanxs for trying to help tried the instructions u gave but cant take ownership of the folder theres no security tab in the properies tab and im running xp pro sp3

    Hi redwade1213,

    If you are running XP Home you have to start in Safe Mode for the Security tab to appear.

    Reboot and hit F8 immediately and repeatedly. You should get an options screen listing safe mode as a choice.

    hi tried the safe mode tried the security tab still cant access the folder on my separate drive just keep saying access denied documents not accessible

    Did you follow the directions from Halo's link to taking ownership of the folder (the last part of the microsoft article)? Did you get an error while going through the steps?

    I agree with Sach2, you'll need to go over the instructions from Microsoft in that article again and play close attention to logging on into the admin account on that PC and also disabling Simple File Sharing and the steps are in that article on how to do this as I'm not come across an XP Pro machine which doesnt have the Security tab, that is unless your PC is a corporate managed one and then the companies admins may have disabled it in group policy and only they will be able to re-enable it.
