Some time ago weird stuff started happening. While I would be doing something wih my PC, the hard drive would make a "clang" sound, screen would freeze, and it would reboot and show an error "1962: operating system was not found" or something. I found a temporary solution, I would move the cable in the place where it connects into the hard drive, and if I'm lucky, it would boot, showing "Fixed disk: 0" while bios are loading. The first question is: is something wrong with the cable or the hard drive?
Now, the reason why we are here ;) When my PC freezed, i turned it off and on by removing the electricity wire (or whatever it's called), and i got that message "Windows didnt shut down properly, choose a way to boot Windows", something like that, I tried pressing Safe Mode, Start Windows normally, Load with most recent settings that worked, I tried all options.. It would try booting, showing the Windows logo, and THEN, it returns to the screen where i should choose how to boot. That happens multiple times. Is there a way to fix this without reinstalling windows?
    Please help... :cry:cry:cry

Have you changed the cable? That's the cheapest and first fix I would try. Cables do go bad.
Next you need to run scandisk and see if any error are found. This indicates that the drive is dying.
Do those two things then post the results.

Well, I can't do a disk check cause I can't boot up my pc. I moved the cable a little and now it doesnt show that 1962 error or anything, it tries to load windows, but as I said, it just keeps returning to the "Windows didnt shut down properly, choose a way to boot Windows:" screen. I would like to know a way to slove this problem first.
Btw, my hard drive worked perfectly, so I would guess the problem is with the cable and I will try to get one. But it wont help to boot up my pc, cause earlier, when I would move the cable a bit, it would boot up fine, now it doesn't, what do you suggest? My friend told me that he had once had the same problem, and didnt find any solution but reinstalling Windows.

If your HD is IDE connection then you can disconnect the CDROM cable and plug it into the HD. If the CDROM and HD cables look like they have the same connections on both ends they are both IDE. This should let you test if the cable is the problem.

True, i remember the connections are the same, so I will test it today, thanks.
Now, I just hope somebody can advise me how to fix the infinite boot loop, it has got nothing to do with the cable, I guess. I'll try to explain again: I turn on the PC, it gets me to the "Windows didnt shut down properly, choose a way to boot Windows" screen, and whatever option i choose, it just shows the Windows Loading screen and returns to the "Windows didnt shut down properly, choose a way to boot Windows" screen over and over again.
Now this is a major problem ;)

A disk check is done before windows loads. From your description, windows is not loading. For future reference, it is possible to do a disk check even if windows does not boot up properly.
