I don't know if I am in the right place but will start here anyway. I just got thru getting help from MG on removing some nasty malware, but now I have another problem. Seem I cannot get to the MY Ebay section of ebay and I cannot access any of my online banking info. Used to be able to make credit card payments online but not now. Just keep getting a message IE cannote display the webpage. If I use my latop I have no problems. I even tried without going thru my router and went straight to the cable modem, still no luck. Is there some setting or something that is causing this? If so can anyone help me out?
    Thanks a bunch!
    Mike

First, I would run CCleaner to cleanup any cookies/temp files and then I would reset the settings in IE. I would also run HOSTER as requested in your thread in the Malware Forum.

Ok, ran CCleaner, Hoster, and reset all levels to default in IE. Still no luck. where else can I look? I even rebooted after making changes. Anyway it is still the same.
    Thanks

How do you connect to the internet? Cable/DSL or Dialup?

What browser do you have installed and what browser are you using?

The only browser we have ever used is IE. We connect via cable. I bypassed the router to see if that might have been causing the problem but still with same results.

Let's try this simple scan before we dig deeper.

    Download Reg Supreme 1.4

When prompted, run the "Aggressive" scan and fix all found problems. When prompted type a name for the backup.

Reboot once complete and let me know if anything has changed

If the above does not work, try:

    Download Dial-A-Fix:
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4899

Extract the file, then double click on Dial-a-fix.

Next, click the check mark (green button check mark), then press the go button.

This will pop up a screen with chaning time/date. Make sure it is accurate. Then, press okay on that window. BTW, this process can/could take a wee bit of time.

Well I did both of those and still no luck. I did a reboot after each one and then tried your link and had the same results. Maybe this computer needs to become a boat anchor or something.
I do appritiate all your help.

Let's get some basic information, when did this start? Was anything changed that could have caused this.

I might not be a bad idea to uninstall IE7, see if it works and then reinstall IE7. You do have the final release yeah?

So, I uninstalled IE7 and tried 6 and now cannot get on the web at all. My email still works fine. Just no internet. I am sending this from another computer connected thru the same router.
    Thanks

Another thing is now that I restored to an earlier time IE7 has no tab feature or tools, file, or any of those options. Are ya sick of me yet?
    Sorry for all the headachs.

Try shutting down Windows Defender, does that allow you to visit secure sites?

Also, I'm curious about Firefox, have you tried this browser?

This is sounding more like a ISP problem to be honest. I may have asked already, have you tried this in Safe Mode? Does it do the same thing in Safe Mode w/ Networking?

Do you use a router or a firewall?

I don't think it is isp problem. I do connect thru router connected to cable modem, when I hook directly to modem I still have same results. The thing is that I have other computer hooked thu the same router and they have no problems. All this started right after we got rid of a popup problem. Then when I uninstalled IE7 IE6 would not conect. I was unable to download IE7 then. I went back t a restore point and was able to at least get back on the web. Only thing is that now IE7 does not have a tool bar. And if I try to access internet options thru control panel its like it doesn't exist. Also in IE7 the tabs featur is gone, and still the problem of not getting to secure pages. Sorry for the flood of info but these are the things I have noticed. If it was isp problem other computers would behaving same sort of issues.
    Thanks for your help
    Mike

It sounds like you have more than just an IE issue, do you have your Windows XP CD? If so, I would recommend a "Repair" reinstall of Windows simply because there is something going on deeper than IE.

Hate to sound "Thick" but have you enabled ActiveX in IE7, if you haven't most secure sites will not allow you on. I would download IE7 again, reinstall then activate the ActiveX option, just a shot portsport, you have two great guys helping you.
