cant change permissions as admin

    having some problems with my shared drive. for some reason i cant change attributes from read only. ill uncheck the read only box and apply it, but when i close out of the properties window and reopen it, the folder is still set to read only. any ideas?

    never mind. turns out that it is normal and the problem one of my users is having that prompted this post has nothing to do with folder attributes. my bad...

    I admin a smaller college campus. Teachers are difficult users since their issues usually effect a number of students and they are more than likely novice users who are unable to explain problems very well. I'll often post issues here while i'm working on them myself. it tends to get answers faster if the issue is common. In this case, the issue was relayed to me by a person who is not tech savvy by any means, and i was out of the office.

    haha almost have to be a mind reader. or at least carry your IT admin thesaurus around with you...or the one i usually do. not even listen to what they say the problem is and look for myself...
