compaq presario/windows xp -- i already have the system restore disks (mailed directly from compaq) -- but this window pops up when i restart, and it won't close -- i can move it out of the way and still work, but it is extremely annoying -- nothing appears related to it in "msconfig" -- any suggestions?

i have attached a "screen shot" of the image -- as you can see, it is not even fully visible -- that is how it looks at my end also.

The only thing I am aware of that it might be is the Compaq Printer Registration. Look in startup for one of these and uncheck it, restart.

    Reminder-cpqXXXXX or remind32.exe

OK. Without knowing what it say's, kind of difficult to tell you what to look for in startup.

Try Startup Inspector, it will give you detailed info on most items that are starting, you might solve it just by removing things you don't need starting up everytime. You also may see a performance increase.

    Steve,

Thanks!!!! I've restarted three times now and it hasn't showed up -- I installed the Startup Inspector and closed all but three items that were required -- so something that I deleted was the culprit!!

    Thanks again,

    Marsha

    Good deal Marsha. :)

Remember your not really deleting it, just keeping something from starting up each time. If it's a Compaq service or program you might need at some point you can always start it manually.
