    Hi there,
My system info: Windows XP sp2
    AMD 64 3400+ 2.21GHz 896 MB of RAM
    Motherboard name MSI K8NGM2-L (MS-7207G)

We reinstalled windows recently now we can't connect. Ok, here's what's happened so far.

1:when i check device manager there are exclamation points on,
    ?other devices
    -other pci bridge device
    -pci device
    -pci simple communications controller
    -smbus controller
    -video controller(vga compatable)
Hopefully one of these is the problem?
2: This lead me to believe it was a driver problem, I can't find the drivers at the msi website, and can't connect that computer to autodetect.
3: I've updated to IE7 and tried again and failed.

Any Ideas of how I should procede would be awesome.
    Thank you.

Here is the link to the drivers for your board http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=224

This is more than likely a driver issue because i did notice that in the driver package on the site it had listed the network controller.

Also are you connected via ethernet cable or Wireless.

if you are using wireless then you will need the drivers for the brand and model wireless card you have.

if you have a wired connection you might try opening your control panel and going to network connections and see if you have an active connection. if not then you need to create a new connection.

It is a wired connection. I've tried both of your suggestions to no avail. The network connection wizard says that my connection should already be configured and ready to use!
The Lan says "Network cable unplugged, firewalled.
I don't know what else to try. Please help.

If its saying that its already configured and Network cable unplugged then:

    A. Check your ethernet cable and make sure it is plugged into both the computer and the router or modem (it may look like it is plugged in but could be loose i had the problem about 2 weeks ago as ridiculous as it may sound)

    B. You have a bad network card

    C. your modem or router is not turned on

    D. You could have a bad cable.

Check all of these and if you are still having problems let me know and we can check a few other things.

Yes my modem is on. I've tried 2 ethernet cables inclusing the one that's on "this" computer that i'm messaging you with, so it obviously works. I'm starting to think it's hardware and ill try to put another network card in, in the morning.
    Thanks
