Can't Connect To Internet (but Am Online)....

Hi, having issues with internet connection. I am online and able to download. Want to install a couple of new items but when I try to do so get errors like 'Can't connect to internet' (even though I am online) have turned off firewalls to no avail. Only have windows defender atm. Any ideas as to why this is happening? Thanks

 

Download and run Tweaking.com - Windows Repair.
If you can't, you'll have to use another PC or even your phone and transfer to file to the problem PC.

Take your time and follow the instructions carefully.
As you've done the malware cleaning, go straight to the Repairs tab and select Common Repairs.
It's recommended to run the program in "Safe Mode With Networking". Restart and run the program a second time.

Eldon - did as you suggested.... no joy. Tried Hitman and came up with the same 'waiting for internet' warning

Check the modem on another computer.
Also check your available data.

 

Data is fine, downloads/installs work fine On other laptop. Computer is connected to internet fine and I can download.... just some programs seem to need to connect to internet after download of exe files... and that's where the issue lies....

 

All I can think of is to use Revo Uninstaller to remove the remnants of all the software you uninstalled.
I would use the Pro version which is fully functional for 30 days.
