Can't connect to secure sites with IE6

I've seen others with the same problem posting and I have followed most if not all of the suggested fixes. I still have the same problem. I went through the Major Geek clean. I still have the problem.
I can navigate in IE6 but can't go to a secure site. I get "page cannot be displayed" message. This started only a couple of nights ago.
I've noticed that noone has posted that they've found a fix.
Any help?

I have installed firefox but get "access denied" when opening that browser.

Pentium 4 2.8GHZ HT 800M FSB 1M cache, 1G Dual Ch MEM , ABIT MOTHERBOARD, CABLE INTERNET CONN.

I had already been to that page and did all the deletes of cookies, history etc...

I did finally get the problem fixed late last night (this morning).
It turned out to be the Norton anti-virus/internet security drivers. When I tried to uninstall norton I kept getting messages saying that I couldn't uninstall because I wasn't signed in. When I tried to manually uninstall I got similar error msg's.
So I decided to individually re-install from the Symantec folder. One by one the .dll.exe programs. Most told me that the versions were up to date and didn't need to be installed. One did re-install, and now all is well.
It was in the live update folder in symantec.

 

Heh, one of the many reasons I stay away from Norton products. In fact, the last two computers I purchased came with Norton Internet Security pre-installed, and within 24 hours it was removed from both systems. Personally and professionally, I just have no use for any edition of Norton.
