Can't create "new folder" anywhere

Our computer is running Windows 7 and we used to be able to click on "new folder" to create a new folder in any other folder, etc. For some time now we have not been able to do this. We have tried using the MS fix from the command prompt as well as copying new registry files to a notepad and saving to the desktop but we get an error about only being able to use binary files or something like that. Can someone help us fix this problem.

Yes, that and if you are in my computer or any other "folder" type of environment, there is a small icon at the top left that says "new folder" and if you click it it creates a new folder (in our case used to). Ran and executed all in the link you provided and Voila - we can open new folders! Now, just have to uninstall the regcleanpro that my husband clicked on when I left him and told him to click on the link you gave and do what it says....

One last thing, can you recommend an antivirus program? Thanks a bunch - it's my hubby's computer and he will be thrilled that it's fixed.

 

That's a very good decision!

Regarding antivirus: I am quite happy with Microsoft Security Essentials on (almost) all of my computers.

 

Same here, but I'm 50/50. I have 4 computers, 2 have Microsoft Security Essentials and 2, including my personal PC have Avast Free. Both are good and either one combined with safe surfing and common sense will work just fine. Always remember to only have 1 antivirus installed on a computer.
