Hi all, this might all be very clear to you but it hasd caised me hours of frustration and no results. I downloaded a program that was to block spam. In the process I had to do certain maneuvers. Apparently something went wrong and the serial number I was given needs to be changed to get the cooikies out. While there is a instruction book and support have advised, the vital place where to click, does NOT show up on my computer. (I have Windows XP if that is important). I have "deleted, I did a Sytem Restore and a number of other things, and nothing happens. I can not upload the program because it recognizes the serial number but yet does not allow me to activate. Support had me do all sorts of actions and none seems to get me there. Any suggestions short of throwing the PC out the window?

What deletion methods did you try?

Did you blast all the cookie folders? Did you search for specific cookies?

My feeling (and I may be wrong) is that the program you downloaded isn't getting info from cookies but from your registry.

Err uninstall the program if possible? If it doesn't work reinstall then ask for a better CD key and then there you go, it should work and everything should be fine, ideally.

are you wanting to uninstall ? or remove the registry key ?

have you tried removin the program from add remove in control pannel ?
    if ya cant there
go to program files then look for the program, then look for a uninstall then remove it
if that does not work you can click on the program, to open , then edit button top tool bar , then select all then file delete
then go to ya registry to remove the entire folder there
    OR
TO JUST REMOVE THE REGISTRY KEY
have you tried going in to your registry, then to remove the registry key ?
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER
    software [ folder ]
    look for in list
name of program folder you installed
then open each folder till ya see settings
settings double click setting to open
    there you will see your registry key on right side {key}

maybe you can either remove the registry key , its gonna be under settings on right side of screen or just delete the folder
    folder name
    edit tab top tool bar
    then delete

some programs are nasty to get rid of

when a program won't let me delete "access denied file being used" or something like that i use an eraser program (i use east-tec) which will delete the program on a reboot before it is started.

If the vital place that the companys support doent show up in XP then you may just need to "Un-Hide" ( XP hides alot of files & folders ) some files if you havnt tried this already its.........

Tools > Folder Options > View and put a tick in "Show Hidden Files & Folders" and search again for the files?
