With the sparse details which you provided in your post it's a bit difficult to give you any conclusive answer. No matter how much this "I won't delete; so there!" file bugs you; you should be very cautious careful about deleting it.

Deleting any files or folders which you are unfamiliar with can be very dangerous to your PC's health. This is particularly true regarding certain .dlls and "system files," as well as any folders [whether they're empty or not] which are located in the "Windows" folder.

It could very well be the folder "associated" with another running program and just because it is appears to be empty doesn’t necessarily mean that is isn't "needed" to backup files for whatever that program does when you run it. Sometimes programs do not allow you to delete their backup files folder because they are necessary.

    2 Very Important Questions:
Where exactly is the folder located and what is its size? ("It's on my computer" is a little vague). The reason I ask where it is located is say, if it is in the "Windows folder" it could be a 'system folder' with 'hidden files' inside that are needed. The reason I ask the SIZE is because: is it might LOOK empty; but have those hidden files inside. To determine the size; either let the ToolTip hover over or right-click on the folder and choose properties.

Sometimes "in use" is reported because a .dll is in some way tied up. Often, a reboot followed by an immediate attempt to delete the file works just fine. Give it a try. Second is to boot into 'safe' mode, which will almost always work.

    Other possibilities you might try:

Use winfile.exe to browse to the file/folder and delete.

The utility called MoveOnBoot allows you to copy move or delete files on the next system boot. This can come handy if you need to replace or delete files that are locked by other applications, loaded into memory or cannot be changed until next system boot. I do not have a link to MoveOnBoot but you can easily find it using a Google search.

You can also try the suggestion in this post where I gave a possible solution to another MajorGeeks Forum Member as to how to get rid of files or folders using a freeware program called "Unlocker."

    Good Luck!
