Can't delete

    Thanks Halo - BUT, what if the file still won't delete????? :(

    The report when copy/move is that the file name is too long. Boy is it ever - about 70 characters, obviously duplicated again and again when saved.

    When just deleting the report is ain't possible.

    Wish I still had a copy of XTREE. :D :cry

    You could try booting into safe mode and trying the above again or the best bet would be in DOS, open a CMD prompt ( if using Vista, right click CMD and run as admin ) then navigate to the file location in question using the cd command, once in the location of the file use only the 1st 6 characters of that file, so if it was a random set of chars then say hcbxyd~1.doc add the tild ~ and keep the file extention intact and use the del command.

    so to recap, navigate to the location in say my case the desktop

    c:\>

    c:\>cd users

    c:\Users>cd david

    c:\Users\David>cd desktop

    c:\Users\David\Desktop>


    type in the last folder location c:\Users\David\Desktop>del hcbxyd~1.doc
