Hi all. I got hit with a ton of spyware a few days ago and I've been pretty successful with getting most of it off. I have on my computer the follownig antispyware/spyware removal programs:

    Ad-Adware SE (free)
    ScanSpyware 3.8 (paid)
    Giant Antispyware (paid)

plus I just downloaded a trial version of of spyware doctor which is showing a few new bugs that the other programs didn't catch (not sure whether that's a purchasing ploy or what)

They ALL show that this peopleonpage/apropos media stuff (especially the autoupdate in the registry) is on my computer every time I run scan, yet at the same time, they ALL show that their systems have removed it. The scanspyware will say that I need to reboot for it to completely remove all of pop, when I do I get "completely removed" prompts but when I run it again (immediately after the success confirmation), it shows it's still on there. So even though three spyware programs are saying that these infections are successfully removed, it keeps coming back.

I don't want to keep paying for spyware removal programs when they aren't really getting rid of the problem. I've even gone into the registry and removed some of the autoupdate and envolvo keys, but it seems they keep regenerating.

Am I just stuck with this on my computer?

How can I be sure it's really off when all three removal programs quarantine/remove the bugs yet keep showing them as being on my computer?

Do I need to try hjt?

    Thanks
    Kathy

    p.s.
I'm NOT getting the pop ups, the redirected homepages, the homepage hijacks (I was, but I think I've deleted all of that stuff), my speed is back to normal and I can get into regedit with no problem. But I just feel like I'm being watched and that my passwords and keystrokes are being logged.

ScanSpyware 3.8 (paid) - This program is on a list of rogue/suspect antispyware removal tools. See this: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

SpywareDoctor is a good program whereas SpyDoctor is not. SpyDoctor is also on the above list.

You will quite often find that each program can find things that others do not. That is why we recommend using more than one.

Our standard procedures require that you please follow all the steps in this Sticky thread < READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal >

If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

After doing all the steps above, if you still have a problem, you should read the tutorial in this Sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log file as an attachment to your message. All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

Make sure you have HJT version 1.98.2 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment.
