    Hello

I am new to your forum. I am currently getting my logs checked at SWI to see what malware had infected my system. The suggest to download AVG and MALWARE BYTES to try and clean the system. However I have tried downloading both but my system keeps blocking them. So I was wondering if there is anyway I could download them so I can scan my system. Thank you!!

Since you are working at a different forum, please continue with them. It is a waste of either our resources or theirs if you post in our malware forum as well.

That said, you can use a different computer to download and transfer via cd to the infected machine.

If the computer is already infected, then you should download software tools on a clean computer, burn them to a CD and then run them on your infected computer (in Safe Mode if they will run that way).

Malwarebytes is pretty good, though the free version does not catch all the things that the paid version catches.

The tools you want to download, unless you know specifically what your computer is infected with, would be anti-sypyware, anti-virus and anti-rootkit.

GMER is a good anti-rootkit utility, but it's not the most user-friendly interface in the world.

Malwarebytes is a good anti-spyware utility.

There are numerous anti-virus applications that offer "trial" versions. The free ones, like AVG, are simply not as good, in my opinion. ESET NOD32 is very good.

Trend Micro offers "Sysclean", which in my opinion is the best thing available. It's downside is that it is not as easy as other applications to use. The good news is that you can download the software AND the up-to-date database files on a clean computer, burn them to CD and run it on your computer in Safe Mode.

The really good news is that so far, I have never seen anything it could not properly clean. It's better than their paid version - no joke.

Be aware that even when cleaned, it's possible that the malware did some damage which can not easily be undone. But you have to cross that bridge when you get to it.

    Good luck with it.

Let me again suggest that you work with whoever is assisting you at SWI and follow their procedures. You may be doing things that they would rather you not at this time. :major
