Can't edit index files in Publisher

Hi, this is probably a dumb question, but I managed to publish and upload my web site created with publisher. Then I decided to makes changes, I downloaded the index and index folder and found there was no way to open the web site in publisher to edit one of the pages. I mistakenly deleted the original .pub files ( http://forums.majorgeeks.com/images/smilies/mad.gif ) is there anyway to convert the index & index folder back to one .pub file to edit the site??
