Can't end processes from Task Manager

    Hello,

I just have a quick question, I'd be grateful if someone could answer for me. I have been having problems with ending certain processes from Task Managers lately such as Teamspeak.exe and Limewire. The problem I have with these 2 (only ones I noticed) is that everytime I start another application up, they stack up in the Task Managers Processes tab. Even when I "End Task" on one they don't disappear from the processes list.

I have also tried to use KillBox to end these processes but it still failed. Any ideas? I uninstalled Limewire to see whether it will work then, but it still won't do it.

Here is a print screen of the processes:

Bit of a longshot, but one quick thing you could try is right-clicking on the process, and choose "end process tree". Bear in mind this can cause other things to suddenly close, so it's best to make sure nothing else important (like word documents, or file backups, or games or anything. :) ) is running.

Not sure if this will work any better than just ending the process in this case, though.

I tried that as well and nothing happened either.

I suppose that this will be fixed by restarting the computer, but I'd like to know if there is another fix to it.

This is the one I use. Has always shut down the processes that I want shut, except for Firewall and Anti Virus progs. These have to be shut down manually, via the actual program, itself, for safety reasons. It is deliberately programmed NOT to shut down these programs, as an anti-hacking device.

You could try closing it using the command prompt. Go to Start>Run>cmd
    and copy and paste:

    taskkill /f /im LimeWire.exe /T

It might or might not work, but its worth a shot. Looks like you might have other problems as well.

I think it would be worthwhile to determine the cause for these services to be starting/restarting as opposed to just trying to shut them down (though the above suggestions are certainly excellent). Check your STARTUP folder and search the RUN/RUN ONCE keys of your registry first, and make certain that these programs are not in places that you don't want them to be. With VERY few exceptions, you should NOT be unable to stop processes from your task manager. It is the Kill Switch for nearly all of your OS....
