i do only music recording on my one system and it's obviously cost effective to be able to rewrite over test mixes on disk after checking them out on commerical/domestic/car stereos.

i'm using windows media player to burn my songs from the recording software and that's working aces. but i'm only getting one shot on a disk. the drive (or WMP?) won't recognize the disc when it's put in a second time if i want to erase it or copy over it, BUT it recognizes it for playback.

my drive is a Yahmaha CRW3200E. the discs are Fujifilm CD-Rw (rewriteable) 74minutes/650MB.

sure i'm leaving information out so ask away.

    thanks,
    jason

Not for nuthin but..I used to use fujifilm disc and it seemed like every 3 or 4 one was bad -- maybe I just got a bad shipment anyways....
Have you tried another player?burner other than WMP ?? --(ie:nero-pinnacle etc.)
Several free dl's are available here at mg to try..

    thanks for writing...

yeah, i have nero as well but i haven't tried to erase with it. does nero even erase cd-rws? I'll give that a shot.

sadly, every (fuji) disc i grab is a one shot deal making me think it's the hardware. i'll mess around some more.

    thanks,
    jason

Strange as Fuji manufactured disks are generally in the top few you can buy, last company I worked for we delt with Fuji and went through 1000s of cds a year and only had <1% failure rate.

Yes Nero erases CDRWs, easiest way to get to the erase option is to via the Menus click Nero Express once loaded click MORE ( at the bottom ) and the Erase option is listed, just click and follow prompts.

OR if you go through the main Nero Burning Rom window just click Recorder and Erase Re-Writeable Disk.

Are you via WMP using Nero ( nero in latest versions 6 and above ) as it installs a plugin for WMP so you can send the tracks to nero to burn rather than windows ( if using XP ) own inbuilt burning software, which may not me Multisession compatible, Nero 6 will allow tracks to be added.

One side note have you actually tried a CDRW in a commerical/car cd player, ,ost are not able to play CDRWs!

    thanks again...

yeah, i don't think it's the discs either. it's me for sure. i'll have to mess around and get into some more deadends and come up with more questions.

yes, these re-writables do play in my commercial "regular" stereo (and the car discman prior to being stolen).

my nero version is laughably version 1.227. is there a free update anywhere?

    thanks,
    jason
