Can't find BIOS Boot code for my Desktop

    Hi everyone,

    I have been nursing along a Compaq Presario that is now about six years old. Recently it has started to beep after turning on the power switch and I do not get any activity on the monitor. I have done some preliminary research that advised I'm getting a BIOS boot code because of a motherboard issue. I found the specs for my machine but cannot find the corresponding key to the beep pattern I get. Specs are below, any assistance would be welcome. Thanks!

    Compaq Presario SR2050NX Desktop (about 6-7 years old)
    Manufacturer's motherboard name: Pegatron ECS RC410-M
    HP/Compaq name: Asterope3-GL8E

    Base processor
    PentiumD 820 (S) DC 2.8 GHz
    800 MHz front side bus
    Socket 775

    Chipset
    ATI Radeon Xpress 200 for Intel Processors

    The Beep signal I'm getting is one short followed by one long. It then repeats after a definite pause.

    The computer is 6 — 7 years old. Has/have the CMOS/BIOS battery(ies) been replaced since you've had the computer? I ask because you, apparently, aren't even getting a POST screen.

    Beep codes: http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm
    if an Award BIOS most any code except 1 long and 2 short is RAM.

    If you have an IBM BIOS, which is supect you do not, then your code indicates a motherboard problem.

    I'd probably test the RAM.
