I was running a virus scan with norton and happened to glance at the files that it was scanning at the time, seen some stuff that had been deleted for some time go thru the scanner and then tried to find the file so I could see what it was and what is in it but cant find it nowhere not even with the search. I thought that when I deleted stuff it was gone , it was like some old music files and old video stuff , how much room is this stuff using and is there some program that gets rid of it ?

There are many good free drive cleaners in the "Drive Cleaners" download section here at Major Geeks. I run CCleaner every day or two, and CleanUp every week or 10 days. There are also 'shredders' that will completely remove data beyond all forms of recovery much like a paper shredder destroys paper documents. Here's some links:

    CCleaner http://www.majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_No_Toolbar_d4191.html
    CleanUp http://www.majorgeeks.com/CleanUp_d4895.html
nCleaner http://majorgeeks.com/nCleaner_d5476.html (has a free space shredder and more)
Glary Utilities http://majorgeeks.com/Glary_Utilities_d5870.html (highly recommended; has many different PC tools including cleaning and shredding)
DP Wipe http://majorgeeks.com/DP_Wiper_d4916.html ('wipes' or shreds selected files/folders using Dept Of Defense standards)
All these programs are totally 100% free.
The only thing I can think of is that Norton is scanning some temporary files, the Recycle Bin(s), and the System Restore folder which might have all sorts of stuff in it....

Are you sure those files aren't still hiding in system restore?

No program will erase files in system restore. (That would really screw up the restore function of windows).
If you are positive you don't need them
    1. turn off system restore
    2. clean and defrag
    3. turn system restore back on.

I run ccleaner, cleanup and glary utilities then run my norton again and the files are still there , they are not important files just traces from some downloads of movie clips and junk like that ,
