Check to make sure that the cable is properly connectd to the drive and the motherboard. I may have come loose.

well yes and no there was a loose connection and that is fixed because I don't get an error message on the start up anymore but still no A drive is showing up.

Can be caused by a corrupt registry entry:

    1. Save attached file to your Desktop

    2. Unzip to Desktop

    3. Double-Click FloppyFilter.reg

    4. Click Yes

    5. Restart your computer.

still no A drive showing, I went to dos and tried to bring up the A drive and it gives me a message that says " The system cannot find the drive specified"

    Thanks

OK, it has to be hardware related.

It can be the drive, the cable, or the controller.

Are you able to put the drive in another computer?

I would put money on the drive has gone bad. They are relatively inexpensive. Or you can try a new cable. Go for whichever option is the least expensive.

    Try resetting the BIOS.
