Can't find my modem

    Help................I just bought a used gateway laptop and installed my ip cd and it keeps saying can't find a modem.:eek: I opened up my device manager window and WOW.......there isn't anything there.:confused: The operating system is win xp.

    Thanks for your help ahead of time

    Need the exact make and model of the laptop .....while your looking ....look on the sides and back for either a "regular" phone jack plug-in or a larger but similar type plgin (ethernet card) or maybe a small switch with a led light next to it that will turn on when you flip the switch.

    It also has a phone jack and a ethernet jack and a blinking red light near the phone jack.

    If you go to my computer, does it show a c drive and a d drive, it should say restore partition. ed

    I'm afraid that there is not much you can do with this laptop without having an install disc to either repair or re=-install .....:mad:
