can't find new drivers

this might seem real elementary to others, but I can't figure it out. My computer takes forever to restart and is slow in other areas too, so after ruling out malware and viruses others have suggested that it might be bad drivers or corrupt files. Well I don't understand much about drivers but I ran Driver Detective and a couple of other driver detectors and they all show the same bad drivers, but when I go to Device Manager to update these drivers, it says that there are no new drivers to be installed. Is there any other way to not only scan my entire computer for bad drivers but to find the good ones and install them? Here is the screenshot of what Driver Detective found.

ok, I downloaded from the bottom two links but not from the top one, and that cleared up one "bad" driver. What kind of driver is the top link for and what one do I use?

yeah, I updated those, same thing. Is it possible that something is wrong with my motherboard? Is there some sort of diagnostic tool that will tell me if something is wrong with my mb?

You CAN get MOBO drivers there. "Platform/nForce Drivers"

I had already downloaded all the drivers possible off of the NVIDIA website that you posted a link to, including the MB drivers, that is why I was wondering if there is something wrong with my MB.

what is your motherboard manufacturer and system model?

Did you uninstall the old drivers before installing the new drivers?

Sometimes this can cause compatability problems and won't allow the new install to run properly.

Here are my specs and a new updated Driver Detective report. No I didn't uninstall my old drivers before I updated them, is that something that I should be doing for all drivers?

I'm no expert but more experienced people certainly recommend it and my ATI video card drivers always include an uninstallation tool and recommend it be undertaken before the installation of the new drivers.

Nowadays whenever I am installing or updating any software I uninstall the older versions before installing the newer ones.

If you have been to nVidia and downloaded the latest motherboard/chipset drivers then you are upto date, especially with those 3 mobo drivers you have listed with red Xs, don't always believe what 3rd party software tells you! they are scaremongering a bit with the term "BAD" its not they are bad it maybe just they are out of date, or the software "Driver Detective" is reporting a false reading!

Have you been experiencing any problems?

but did you get and install these
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_udp_winxp_5.10.html

as they are newer than even your motherboard maker has?

Yeah, I have been to nvidia, and updated everything, and I was starting to wonder if they were just trying to convince me to buy their product. I downloaded the ntuner I think it's called, and now my computer is running better after I let that thing tune it up. I have been experiencing problems with it: not restarting, freezing up, randomly not connecting to the internet, randomly disconnecting from the internet, just wierd stuff like that. My computer has never in 2 years done anything like this. And yeah, I did install the drivers on the link you posted, so I guess I will just assume that my drivers are updated. Thanks for the help!

There are many programs out there that will try to goad you into buying their product by giving a lot of false positives!!! One of the biggest software groups for this are security software (spyware scanners in particular) and there is a case in the US at the moment for a particular Co. that not only generated lots of false positives but manipulated the sys such that it became more vulnerable to attack! That said should always obtain drivers from the product manufacterer and or trusted sites and only when you are experiencing issues.

I also use Your Uninstaller! 2006, to remove prev drivers and apps before updating because I have had weird behaviour before. It tidied up the Reg and any unusally behaving programs where removed with it and fresh reinstall and now the sys runs like a dream again.

hmmmmmm....I looked up that program, do you need an uninstaller program to do the trick or can it be done without one? If it is needed, can anyone suggest a good free uninstaller? thx

Yes a good uninstaller can make a world of difference, using Windows add/remove can leave many registry entries also the applications uninstallers will as well.

If like me you test numerous software applications until you find the right one the Registry can become bloated and impaired through all the installation/uninstallation. This can effect system speed and in rare cases cause conflict and stability probs. RegCleaner (by jv, this site) can be good, have to go now but I will have a look later.
