Cant find the CD-ROM(F:/) drive in my computer

I cannot find the cd-rom drive in my computer.
No idea what happend.. but i wz installing a pc-suite from d same cd-rom. N den tried many wayz from google search.. but ntn helped.. I do not have any other cd-rom.. m using windows xp service pack-3..

N i have no knowledge of d system as in how to restore it or how to create a restore point,,etc etc..
Please help..

Hi

What was the PC suite you where installing?

Boot into Safe Mode (F8 at boot and choose Safe Mode) and see if the drive is accessable? if not then reboot normally and continue below.

What ways from Google did you try? by telling us it save us repeating the advice.

I would guess that you have tried in Device Manager to uninstall the CDROM drive and then reboot to re-install it again, and maybe you deleted the Upper and Lower Filters using these steps HERE... if not then do so and even do it again.

In Device manager do you have any yellow ! marks by any device and if so please tell us what they are?

Do you have any CD Mounting software installed, MagicDisk, Virtual CloneDrive, Alcohol 120%? if you do uninstall them and tes the drive again,

Check the Cables of the drive and make sure they are firmly connected.
