cant get all my gbs :D

Well i just bought a seagate 300gb hard drive and i cant get all the gb out of it i am a newb.

 

what operating system do you have? i know with XP you have to have service pack 1 or later for windows to recognize the drives ... also just to make sure Im on the right track you are only able to see about 137 GBs correct?

 

windows xp with servis pack 1 or higher and yes i 127

 

what motherboard do you have? and/or what company made your PC and the model number?

you may have to change the HDDs access mode in the BIOS your manuel will tell you how to do that

If you use the traditional Microsoft Disk Administrator or Disk Management tools to prepare your drive or you need to check the status of the EnableBigLBA registry setting, you can use the Ontrack Reg48bitLBA utility to set or confirm if the setting is enabled.

Another thing, what mobo is this? you may need to up date your bios.
