I am working with a friend to get his ATI TV tuner hooked up and working after a reformat. For some reason it shows it is enabled, working properly but still is not working. He has sound thru his soundmax onboard card and we even tried disabling that. We have tried downloading the updated drivers but ATI instructions are totally screwy.. we couldnt find the files they suggested we needed, so we went back to his CD.
    Any suggestions?
I am not sure what the trouble is or if we have to do something to that soundmax card first or not.. but any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Ok since nobody has responded yet.. I have one other comment.... in ATI's instructions it says to remove the DAO in add remove programs.... he does not have a DAO... could this be part of the problem? The software appears to have trouble installing correctly and he gets these warnings when he reboots:
Warning 1 Cannot copy INF file C:\program files\ATI multimedia\RemCtrl\drivers\ATI RWVD.INF directory: access is denied
Warning 2 Cannot copy D INF file for device (hid:*WINDVR6) access denied
Warning 3 Failed trying to install the driver

I have installed quite a few of those suckers, every one is different. What is the ATI card? I assume it is a AIW (All In Wonder), but doesn't have to be. I need the make / model of the card (Radeon AIW 7500, 8500, etc).

The OS also dictates what drivers you need. One of the CDs that came out with these cards was out and out bad. (edition 110). So is it 98SE, XP, what?

One of the little gotchas, XP requires Net 2.0 intalled, this can be had for free at the Microsoft website. (note, not Net 1.0, skip it entirely).

It is a TV tuner 650
He is running Win XP Pro
We finally got it installed but the resolution is terrible. It always changes to a lower resolution from 1024 x 768 to 800 x 600. If you can figure out how to get it to quit doing that .. it would be great. I am wondering if there are other settings he needs to change. :yum
