Here's an odd one. Just went from an nVidia 9800GTX+ to an ATI Radeon HD5850 video card. I dual boot XP SP3 32-bit and Win 7 64-bit. Monitor is a HannsG 25" LCD. Under Win 7 the 5850 fills the screen fully at 1920x1080. But in XP the screen is not filled no matter what resolution or refresh rate I choose. Have tried a couple different drivers, but no luck.

The XP desktop was full screen with the 9800GTX+ btw.

    Any suggestions?

Did you install the drivers for XP?

I had exactly the same problems a few weeks ago with my HD4890 and Hanns G 24"
I tried everything, I contacted ATI and Hanns G and no one could get it to go.
What you need is in CCC there is an option called "Scaling"
There is a slider bar you need to move to full. Although no matter wat version of CCC I downloaded and installed (6 versions I tried including the newest released in Feb) it simply would not show up in XP, it was there but it was greyed out. I installed Win7 and installed the exact same CCC and the option was there and worked perfectly.

Checl out your CCC in Win7 and you will see the options are different.

It must be an issue with CCC and XP.

I realise this isn't exactly helpful but just to let you know it's not you or anything you've done.
If you do find a fix please post it here, I would be interested to see, but I litterally tried everything, Sapphiretech, ATI and Hanns G cold not find a solution for me and Sapphiretech and ATI both said the option "Should" be there and working, but it wasn't no matter what I did.

I got it to work. I had posted over on the AMD site and got a reply about Underscan/Overscan being the control.

Now I am using the new Catalyst 10.2 (driver vr 8.07.2). One of the menus is DTV (DVI)4. Open that and the 3rd option down is Scaling Options. Clicked that and got a slider for Underscan-Overscan. Slid the marker over to the right (setting Overscan to 0) and the screen size increases the LESS Underscan there is.

Don't know if you can download the CCC seperate from the driver as I've read on a few different sites these new drivers released in the past 2 weeks have issues running on 48xx series cards.

    In Win 7x64 I'm running a leaked Catalyst 10.3/driver vr 8.1.

Awesome, I know where the options are but like I said, they simply would not show in my CCC, I tried that version and a load of older ones, no luck. It was weird because others reported it does work but a select few couldn't, of course me being one of them lol
Same drivers and CCC work perfectly in Win7.

Glad you got it working though.
