My wifes laptop running 8.1 has been giving her problems so I thought I'd run through the readme first routine and see what happens. I tried running Hitman Pro with control Key and it wouldn't force breach. I used control key and it forced breach and stopped 10 processes. It then scanned and started analyzing and locks up shortly after. Was not able to get it to complete. I attached the adwcleaner, malwarebytes, roguekiller, and mgtools log files.

Let me know what I need to do because there is something taking 52% CPU as well.

    Thanks,

PS - ran adwcleaner twice because I forgot to run it the first time in adminstrator mode

Did/have you tried running Hitman Pro normally? But first - you don't need to have two copies of the program:
    C:\Users\Connie\Desktop\HitmanPro_x64 (1).exe
    C:\Users\Connie\Desktop\HitmanPro_x64.exe

    Delete this folder --> C:\Users\Connie\AppData\Local\PackageAware

Please download the freeware version of Zemana Antimalware to your Desktop and run it. After the appl auto-updates, click on Scan. After it's finished, click on the icon that looks like Cell phone strength bars. High-light the report (by date log was produced) and click on the "Open Report" icon (it looks like a folder). That notepad.txt can then be copied/pasted into another .txt doc and saved. Upload that log, please.

Tell me how the machine is running now.

I removed the second instance of Hitman Pro as I didn't realize I already downloaded it the night before. I removed the folder packageaware. I ran zemana and it came up clean. I attached the log file.

    Good!

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:
    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase it, it provide no protection. It do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.
    2. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    3. If running Vista, Win 7/8/10 - it is time to make sure you have re-enabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    4. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    5. Go to the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double-click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. If you are running Win 7/8/10, do the below:
      • Refer to the instructions for your Windows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • For Windows 8/8.1/10 system restore see this link: Win 8 System Restore - How to enable/disable
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.
    7. After doing the above, you should work through the below link:
    Safe surfing!
