I need to get into this forum so that I can moderate it but IE keeps dropping the ball. I can get it to go to open the main forum page ( http://www.myleague.com/php/page.ph...&lng=eng&l=poker_friends&g=gamer&svr=cgi6&pl= ) but if I click a post to read it just says "Applet mflip started" in the status bar and goes to "Page Can Not Be Found". Here is an example post for you guys ( http://www.myleague.com/php/page.php?p=msg&t=myleague&lng=eng&l=poker_friends&g=gamer&m=7&svr=cgi6 ). On the rare occasions that I can get the page open to read the post it is still only half loaded because the text boxes do not load to let me reply if I needed to. I have my security level on medium which seems to be as low as IE will let me set it, third party and session cookies are accepted plus I am using Sun Java.
I installed Mozilla Firefox to see if it would get in and it will but it also has problems with the page too. Firefox gets 100% loaded but it just takes a while. I would rather use IE to access the page though because of the Earthlink add-ons that really make IE a great browser for me since I'm on dialup and need all the help I can get. Earthlink has a web accelerator built into IE that makes surfing almost 5x faster, built in pop up blocker that works very well and beat Microsoft by 2 years, built in spyware/adware blocker, spam blocker, virus blocker and a FTP client for all my web sites. Even though Firefox don't have all those features I must agree with you all that it is a very good browser and will be getting some use from me.
If anyone recognizes what I am doing wrong or maybe some Firewall ports I need to have open but am unaware of, please let me know. I don't really know what kind of language that forum is, so maybe thats something to think about. If nothing else you guys can stop by and play some Poker!

Try this. Did this start after sp2 ?

Internet Explorer SP2 includes the ability to block pop-up windows. This new feature may block some Web pages. To turn off the Pop-Up Blocker, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, right-click Internet Explorer, click Internet Properties.
    2. Click the Privacy tab.
    3. In the Pop-Up Blocker section, click to clear the Block pop-ups check box.
    4. Click Apply.
    5. Click OK.

No I was having this problem before the SP2 update and I don't have the pop-up blocker on either. I really think its a problem IE is having with all forums that are formatted like that one is. Here is a copy and paste from my Poker League forum to give you an idea of the layout.

Most forums that I visit are layed out and formatted like MajorGeeks which I have no problems navigating. It's just the crappy format of our forum at the Poker League I have a problem with.

If you can think of anything else Matacumbie I am listening. Hey I'm from TN too! GO VOLS!!! :)

Has anything changed since it last worked?

    Try emptying your browser's cache.

Well I have never had much luck working with those kinds of forums. That forum never did work right for me. As far as empting the cache is concerned I run Crap Cleaner so I know I'm not cluttered.

There is just something different about those kinds forums that IE doesn't like. I wish I knew what the name was for forums styled like that so that maybe I could search around and get more info. All I know is they suck!

Well my java is ok I guess. Just another shot in the dark by me that missed completley. Does anyone know what code forums like that are written in? You know, like SQL or VB.

What is MG forum written in? I can at least rule that out since I have no problems navigating here.

If you have tried two different browsers, FireFox and Internet Explorer, and it does similar things, chances are the problem lays elsewhere.

Are you sure you don't have any pop-up/ad blocking software or firewall that is causing this?

Firefox will open the threads 100% but it struggles doing it and I want IE to open the threads 100% also.

Ok I just ran a test to see if anything is interfering. Here is settings used.
    Firewall-off
    Antivirus-off
    Popup Blocker-off
    Spy/Ad ware blocker-off
    Security settings-default
    All Cookies-accepted
    Java-enabled

I was still not able to get the threads to open fully and show the reply text boxes. Here is the forum link again if anyone wants to take a look and try to identify what my browser is lacking. http://www.myleague.com/php/page.ph...&lng=eng&l=poker_friends&g=gamer&svr=cgi6&pl=

Don't click the bottom thread because it doesn't give a reply option anyway. Its the first 5 threads that I cant get to load fully. When they are fully loaded there should be text boxes for reply.

Well I updated my modem drivers today but that was just another vain attempt. I guess I'll do some more head scratching and see what comes next.
