can't get on internet explorer

I already posted this under software, but I really need help. I am on my second computer. My new computer, which i bought in May of 2004 has all of the sudden became very slow, have macfee and windows XP along with the new service pack 2. The problem is, it has become extremely slow, and everytime I try to get onto IE it boots me out. I have managed to get through to IE through JAVA Sun but that is a chore in itself. I have done scan after scan and still no virus is showing up. I would like to download a spyware program but can't seem to get into this site on my computer. Any help would be appreciated. (1) WHEN did it become slow? Was it a sudden change after you installed SP2? After changing a program???

(2) What are you scanning with? (what programs?) I thought you didn't have spyware programs.

You mention McAfee but you don't mention a FIREWALL.
(3) Do you use the windows XP firewall, the SP2 firewall or some other software firewall?

You got here somehow (on another computer?).
(4)Could you download to a CD and then upload that to your other computer?

Some scans need to be done in safe mode because Windows XP will just restore what you are "fixing" after a scan.

Welcome to Major Geeks. Go look at that first thread and be very careful to do exactly what it says. Come and post results and all the questions you want but you need to do all of this in the proper order.
