Can't install DVD Writer

    Hello,
    I'm trying to install Dvd writer in my computer but i get message that 'Boot device not ready'. when i connect dvd writer The Hard disk became ignored by computer. both hard disk and dvd writer is connected by same cable to Mother board.:cry
    Should i change BIOS setup? confused
    Please help me someone.

    I take it you attached the dvd writer to the spare connector on the IDE cable, is this correct?

    Did you make sure to jumper the dvd drive to slave (they are generally set to cable select). The jumper will be located at the back of the drive.
