    I'm having issues installing this Samsung ML2525 printer.

    I hook up the printer and Windows (Vista) detects it and Windows goes online to find drivers. It does so and says device is ready to use, however the printer does not show up in the Prinetrs section of control panel.

    If I attempt to install the printer via the CD that came with it, it goes through the steps until it gets to "searching printers" and it just sits there...

    Hi

    Grab the latest driver off the Samsung support site HERE and install, just need to pick yoru version be it 32bit or 64bit and see if that helps as they are self contained exe files.

    Forgot to mention that I also tried downloading the driver and yet it stalls at the same spot :(

    Hi

    Disable your Antivirus, Firewall and Anti-malware software (especially Spybot) and then right click the setup file and choose Run as Administrator.

    I disabled all anti-virus/firewall, ran as admin and am still having the same issue

    completely generic answer because I have to leave but is this a USB connected printer? Did it say STOP do not connect the usb cable until told to do so in the installation instructions? I know some HP's do that and if you hook it up ahead of time, you have to disconnect and uninstall everything before trying again with the CD. If you try to just fix what you did, it will fail.

    After following Handygal's advice, if you're still having issues try the following:

    * Open "Devices and Printers".
    * Click on "Add a Printer" (ignore the message about USB auto-detect).
    * Choose "Add Local Port".
    * Give the printer a name (example: "ML2525" - whatever name you give it won't affect the drivers) .
    * In the list of printer drivers, choose "browse" and install the latest driver you downloaded. Be sure to choose the correct one (32 or 64-bit) for your version of Vista.
    * If a screen says it's already installed, choose the option to reinstall it.

    Although not a guaranteed fix, this has worked for me a few times when the auto setup failed.

    Hope this helps. :)
