    Dear Anyone.

OK, XP dinosaur here, am disabled and find it's the best for my disability software. Anyway.

If this sounds like I don't know what I'm talking about, it's because I don't otherwise I wouldn't be here! I downloaded Ultrasearch from this very site, Major Geeks. It said it was compatible with Windows XP. I double-clicked to install it, chose English cos that's all I can read and it then said 'this program is not compatible with your version of Windows.'

Now first of all Major Geeks says it IS compatible and I trust this site, so I don't understand what's going on. Secondly, in the mists of time, on a different computer also using XP SP3 (as this one is) I'm pretty certain I used to use Ultrasearch, just forgot about it somewhen after my last stay in hospital.

I'd LOVE to be able to use it again. I've got a rival called 'Everything' (yes, that's its name, by Chocolatey Software) but that's forever re-indexing the hard drive. Ultrasearch doesn't have to do the constant indexing. (if this sounds like a spam for Ultrasearch, please, Admins, it's not.)

Does anyone know why it's not installing on XP SP3 even though this site says the version downloaded from here should be compatible and, if possible, where I can get a version that IS compatible? Would make life a LOT easier for this disorganised disabled guy if I had it again! Or anything that's similar and doesn't do the constant re-indexing every time I move a file.

Yours hopefully (or - lessly, take your pick)

    thankyou both very, very much!!

Both work fine, Agent Ransack's a real find, never heard of it before and it's great, isn't it! They're both dead useful for a geek with lots of hard drives (like me!) and thanks all of you for answering this and finding them for me.

    Yours respectfully

    Chris.

If you've ever heard of Fred Langa https://langa.com/ who has been writing for first computer print magazines and now two sites on the internet, his and Woody Leonhard's site, he mentioned Agent Ransack.
I figured if he used it, it had to be worthwhile. When I'm not sure what I'm looking for using a wild card and just an extension with a before and after date in Agent Ransack really helps me find the file I want.
