cant install warbirds2.77 R3 on xp home

i am running winxp home with sp2 2.4ghz 1gig ram i get a error message every time i try to install warbirds2.77 R3 and so it will not install i play my friends that game because they cant play wb2004 here is what the message says "16 bit windows subsystem C:/WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. the system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application" what should i do?



and by the way i did not know where to put this because it being software and game

 

Airwolf, I do not know anything about that game but how old is it?
Is it supported by WindowsXP HE? Is it supported by the other system specs?
Are you getting the error message when trying to install or play?
If trying to play, try right-clicking on the executable (or the shortcut) and choose 'Properties' then click on the 'Compatibility' tab and play around with the settings to see if it helps.
Other possibilities I am guessing are: errors during installation, not the original CD, if it is the original CD then the CD is damaged...

 

yes it is the original CD and the CD is not damaged it happens when i try to install and yes it should work on xp the game was made back in 1995 but it was just called warbirds2.77 but it was updated to warbirds2.77 R3 around 1999 to 2001

Yes the cause and the workaround mentioned on the MS site made sense to me, from the error you mentioned I can tell in your case it was the Autoexec file that as damaged.

The instructions are clear and the steps are easy, what part did you have trouble following/doing?
